Jauniela Pearls

Jauniela is an express insight into new Riga dining, clubbing, shopping and design trends. If you are lazy or you have a flight in three hours, take Jauniela to catch that “new Riga feeling”.

Start with freshly opened RIGA SOUND FACTORY (9 Palasta iela, enter from Jauniela)—this funky bar/restaurant is located in the ex Russia emperor’s Riga residence, offers simple and yummy international menu and live music on weekends. Justus hotel restaurant is a very decent level seafood establishment, decorated as Latvian countryhouse. After the filling dinner we recommend to enjoy an espresso in the lobby/library of the refined NEIBURGS HOTEL (Nº25/27), which is truly an accommodation pearl of the Baltics, or have one more dessert in the NEIBURGS RESTAURANT.

A more traditional, but still creative Latvian cuisine establishment is a 1221 (Nº16), boasts an enormous rooftop terrace with an inspiring Old Riga view. For a little more sophisticated pleasure, we recommend Riga Kino Museum (10/12 Peitavas iela, enter from Jauniela) it offers of the total of 120 000 objects, which are testimonies of the history of Latvian and world cinema.

Afterwards, visit SPOT KAFE (Nº19-1) for more relaxed student vibes and yummy homemade ice-cream. Opposite through the courtyard in the RIga Cathedral, fairy-taily boutique MELLEUS (Nº14) sells Latvian/French designer clothes and handmade accessories. Closer to evening (or morning), head to the relaxed and vibrant local favourite legendary CUBA CAFE (Nº15) for awesome cocktails, tattooed/pierced youth and crazy dancing ‘till sunrise.
