About the program:
The heartfelt concert program “”In a Small Picture Frame” (Mazā bilžu rāmītī) combines fine contemporary Latvian chamber music and people’s favorite and well-known songs in a new sound. The great singer Paula Saija has chosen compositions close to her, which in the arrangements of Trio Tresensus will acquire a more sophisticated, nuanced and unusual mood. Paula Saija has often collaborated with Raimonds Pauls, so this program includes the songs of Imantas Kalniņš, Zigmars Liepiņš and Renārs Kaupers as well as the maestro’s melodies. On the other hand, the chamber ensemble Trio Tresensus offers to enjoy the sound paintings of contemporary Latvian composers – Gundega Šmite’s humorous “Variations on themes of Latvian folk songs”, Uģ Prauliņš’s philosophically contemplative “Interlude” from the series “Tree of Life”, Georgs Pelēcis fabulously beautiful “Blooming Jasmine”, as well as miniatures of Ēriks Miezis and the premiere of a new work by Andris Vecumnieks.
