Choir music concert Night of Churches

The Bethel Choir is the flagship choral ensemble at Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota that features 60 collegiate choral artists. Throughout it’s nearly 70-year history, the choir has garnered a fine reputation as a result of the high critical acclaim it has received for performances of a wide range of choral literature throughout the United States and Europe.

Dr. Gene Peterson is the conductor of the Bethel Choir, the fourth in it’s nearly 70-year history, Director of Choral and Vocal Activities, and Artistic Director of Festival of Christmas at Bethel University - St Paul, Minnesota.

The mixed chamber choir „Muklājs”, founded in 1989 is a group of a more than 30 passionate real enthusiasts of music and dedicated to singing from the bottom of their hearts. From high school students who are just starting to acknowledge the beauty of choir singing, up to the experienced adult professionals of different occupations – we all love music and are very keen to perform various kinds of music. From the foundation up to the year 2012, “Muklājs” was lead by its founder and conductor Sandra Šmate, a bachelor graduate from the Faculty of Choir Conducting of the Music Academy of Latvia in 1986 and a master graduate of the same programme in 2011. Since 2012 the choir is lead by Jānis Kokins, a graduate from the Faculty of Choir Conducting of the Music Academy of Latvia in 2005.

Joint concert of Bethel Choir and Chamber Choir "Muklajs" takes place on 1st June 2018 at 21:00 at St John's Church.
Program includes music from the United States and Baltic composers
