After a two-year break, the Riga Circus is welcoming back the experienced team of New Year's Eve celebrations - culture and entertainment venue "K. K. von Stricka Villa" and the production team "Piétro", this time inviting you to a grand 2023 welcome party - Jazz Masquerade in the renovated Riga Circus premises (Merkeļa iela 4).
Time is one of the main determinants of our daily lives - the same one that dictates (and sometimes spoils) the moment of welcoming the new year with its usual tension. Where to celebrate, how to dress, what time to be there? Head-to-toe! The event organisers, who have so far collaborated on such unforgettable events as "Kvartirnik", "Balkan Wedding Circus", "Milk Festival 17/18 at the future art centre Zuzeum" and others, offer to solve all these questions for you by taking on a friendly communication with time and invite you to spend New Year's Eve in grand mood in the renovated premises of Riga Circus.
Jazz Masquerade will be a high quality synergy of live music, art and circus. The narrative of the ball is improvisation or playing with time, simultaneously subjugating it and giving oneself over to it. The Riga Circus will host several dance halls, as well as a chill zone in the Elephant Room. In the large arena, the Wright Ashmanis Big Band, as well as soloists Kristīne Prauliņa and Žoržs Siksna will keep time. Legendary hip-hop artist Ozols will entertain the New Year celebrants with a special musical performance. Throughout the evening, you can enjoy electronic and hip hop music by DJs Mareks Ameriks, Mixmaster Raitis and Jazzy Marky & Nick Ustinov Jr, among others.
As the ball turns midnight, guests will have the opportunity to watch unique performances by international and local circus artists, specially designed for the new circus space and the festival's scenography. The event's set design is by theatre and cultural events artist Anna Heinrihsone, while the visual identity is by Helēna Heinrihsone, a renowned Latvian contemporary painter. On New Year's Eve, guests will have the opportunity to see paintings by the artist selected especially for the venue and mood of the event.
Let the merriment and champagne flow - Jazz Masquerade will not only be the first large-scale event in the renovated Riga Circus building, but also a New Year to be longed to experience again.
Recommended dress code: black tie carnival, or formal and sophisticated, preferably with a mask.
For gentlemen, a dark suit or smart trousers with a sports-style jacket, tuxedo and bow tie or tie.
For ladies, evening dress, cocktail dress, smart trouser suit or skirt. It is recommended to complement the outfit with a mask suitable for the costume and the sparkling New Year's Eve party, as well as accessories.
A VIP area will be available for a limited number of celebrants.
Several bars will be open during the event and no food or drinks are allowed.
Entry to the event is 18 years and over.
The party starts at 22.00 on 31 December.
