In order to provide an opportunity to listen to the festival's planned but unplayed concerts in the summer of 2020, the festival organizers will invite visitors to Riga to listen to recordings of symphony concert programs in nature - in Riga parks, squares and other places unusual for this music genre. The first events are planned from 9-11. July in the heart of Riga, in the square opposite the Latvian National Opera.
During the evening, the specific venue will be transformed into a gorgeous, sounding and metaphorical "outdoor concert hall", offering two meditative lessons accompanied by classical music.
Contrary to the tradition of classical music concerts, when events take place indoors, visitors will be invited to come with their picnic baskets and enjoy symphony orchestra audio recordings in an open atmosphere. In addition to audio and visual enjoyment, event attendees will be able to get acquainted with additional information about the programs played, their history and other interesting facts.
"After several months of caution and giving up face-to-face events, most of us are probably looking forward to what this summer will be like, which has once offered various glorious cultural and entertainment events in Riga. Although the festival's concerts this summer have been canceled, we believe that Rigans and guests of Riga deserve to experience musically beautiful and safe summer evenings in the city this summer as well, ”says Zane Čulkstēna, Executive Director of the Riga Jūrmala Festival.
"In order to find a reason to leave the house and possibly show Riga from a completely different point of view, this summer we will offer Riga's parks and other non-traditional places to explore the city in a special atmosphere through classical music - allowing to enjoy the environment accompanied by symphony orchestra programs," she adds.
It is planned that the events will take place in July and August in various venues in the center of Riga - in the square opposite the Latvian National Opera, in Kronvalds and other Riga parks, in Andrejsala and elsewhere. The organizers of the festival also plan to organize these events in the city of Jūrmala.
