Italian
Antika Roma Italian owned restaurant and Italian food shop, operating
since 1999. Offers Italian cuisine made of 100% Italian
ingredients. Don’t miss out on the Italian cooking lessons
by the Italian chef (in English, Italian or French).
Caffe Leonardo The source of inspiration for this establishment
was Italy itself. It is a matter of personal respect to the
owners to prepare and serve the food properly. Meaning
that if you order risotto it will be “His Majesty” risotto
without a doubt. The restaurant is not big and the design
is not “loud”—here the food is the king. The prices on
the really well thought-out menu are surprisingly low. If
you are passing by during the day, have a business lunch(12.00 - 15.00), or go through a selection of wines in the
evening during ‘wine hour’ (17.00 - 20.00).
Da Antonio Da Antonio is one of the most experienced Italian cuisine
establishments in town. It always is a big surprise how
simple Italian gastronomy keeps being so creative, gourmet
and novel at the same time. Da Antonio chef Manfredo
Molteni is working hard to keep his restaurants up
to date, transforming Italian cuisine in his own particular
contemporary way. This wine-and-dine restaurant is the
place for unhurried tasting of Italian gourmet dishes; we
strongly recommend the risotto with black sepia, asparagus
and octopus carpaccio, for dessert the wine-boiled
pear under white chocolate and Gorgonzola cheese
sauce for dessert... mmmmmm.
Da Sergio An undeniable Italian aura lingers in this cheery light-wood restaurant - it would be hard to project any other image since they play only Italian music, show only Italian TV and serve only Italian wines! The Venetian chef bustles about diligently exerting all his efforts into producing some of the yummiest dishes on this or any other planet at a very fair price. Buns and Italian bread are baked daily on the premises. The specialty of the house is Merluzzo alla Napoleone as well as Zuppa di pesce Venezia (soup with shark, tuna and calmari) with croutons.
Dejavu This cosmopolitan restaurant and contemporary cocktail bar was inspired by the style and sophistication of italian boutique hotels and restaurants and now sits comfortably as one of Riga's premier location. Located in the very city center, it is an ideal place for a business lunch or just for having fun with your friends or partners at an affordable price.
Del Popolo One of the most visited new Italian restaurants in Riga. The popularity could be explained by the Italian trattoria ambience and the cuisine, which could be described as not so simple approach to basically simple Italian meals,
but still keeping “for people” (del popolo) concept price
and atmosphere wise. Carefully picked Italian wine selection
and small wine cellar makes the place an expert in
the fi eld. CR: Fellini orange/beef soup, monk fish fillet.
Fellini This club restaurant is an ideal place for the fans of the Italian life-style. We would compare the interior design to the way Italians dress—sophisticated in their elegant simplicity. Photos of il Maestro adorn the walls and his master pieces inspire the menu, which changes weekly. Extensive quality wine list.
Godvil Restaurant This newcomer is part of the Godvil club concept. Offers
a handpicked selection of Italian/Caucasian/Asian dishes.
We recommend the Asian soups and Italia-inspired
imaginative salads as well as Caucasian grills, cigar or
waterpipe in the lounge zone afterwards. Light and chic
interior, decorated with photos from famous Godvil club
live shows, aiming to encourage you to continue your
evening on the Godvil’s dance floor. Just ask for an invitation
and a taxi to the club!
Il Patio Il Patio branches are located by most of the tourist trails.
The high standards of this huge restaurant chain, fast
and caring waiters and the chef-d’oeuvres of Andrea Maestrelli
defi nitely are a successful combination for reliable
dining. Italian standards with a curious seasonal touch
are on the menu. P.S.: some branches are combined with
Planéta Sushi restaurants, so you can get a trendy pizza/
sushi combination there.
Mama restaurant Located in the small wooden design hotel inspired by
Philippe Starck. This elegant and funky-posh restaurant
offers Italian/Mediterranean cuisine fantasies with a Baltic
touch. The Italian chef is a real creative guy who knows
how to tickle your taste buds with interesting product
combinations—his majestic sorbets are strongly recommended.
The hotel-restaurant atmosphere is always different
and this is one more thing to enjoy. So, if you liked
it, why not just stay there and let your dinner become a
next day breakfast? P.S.: Pet and children friendly.
Mikelandzelo Chic wine bar, where all Italian meat and
fi sh meals, salads, pastas, gnocchi are made with Italian imported ingredients. The menu shows suggestions by
the chef on which wines to pair with your meal. Special
wine selection for each week. Also serves breakfast.
Monterosso This smart old-timer invites you to relish that elegant and classy glow of old Europe restaurants. Absolutely veritable Italian cuisine, offering a variety of selections with a few hints of contemporary fl avours are on chef Patrick Page’s menu. P.S.: They claim that their wine cellar maintains the best selection of wines in town!
Murales Located in the residential Berga Bazårs, this happy and
loungy restaurant is decked out with murales (Sardinian
frescoes) and spreads soft Sardinian tunes. Tiziana, the
chef and owner, succeeded in transporting not only the
recipes, ingredients and amazing liquors, but also the
sunburning mood from her home —Sardinia. So, have a
lengthy five-course dinner in very rich Sardinian style and
please, don’t miss out on the many scrumptious Sardinian
desserts…
Paparazzi This elegant black&white local yuppie meeting point offers
genuine Italian meals prepared in the open kitchen,
from Italia imported ingredients. Sincere, but accurate
service and the Art Nouveau surroundings enhance that
refi ned gastronomical joy.
Pasterellia This pearl from the
Vairak Saules restaurant chain owners is a little bit out of
the centre, but is really worth a visit. The first pasta shop/restaurant
in Latvia offers home-made pasta and pesto,
as well as a huge wine list. You can have your wine and
pasta in the restaurant or take the ingredients with you
to cook at home.
Pomodoro Cozy homestyle trattoria/restaurant, Italian owned and operated,
it is the real deal for authentic cucina italiano. Food is no more and no less rustic than it should be, home-made
pasta, thin-crust pizzas, salads, soups, antipasti in countless variations. All profi ciently prepared mostly from Italian ingredients. P.S.: the Italian diplomatic mission, known for their gastronomical pickiness, was seen eating here.
Portofino This trattoria-style place has the only fully wood oven in
Riga, the cooks are certifi ed A.N.PiR. pizzayolas, so we
would say the pizza is really good. Also countless pastas,
salads and enjoyable wine selection on the list.
Rossini It is said, that the great Rossini could be annoyed only by
two things—unprofessionally played music and wrongly
prepared food. That is absolutely enough to understand
the Italian lifestyle. Simple and sophisticated at the same
time, Rossini restaurant plays lounge music and serves
the chef’s pick of different Italian regional dishes.
Tiramisu This small restaurant, designed in elegant trattoria style, with tiles and mirrors, is frequented by local stylish intelligentsia and foreign embassy people. On Friday evenings it gets full, so it is better reserve a table in advance. Try their risottos, pastas and steaks, and, of course, the tiramisu. They also have an amazing Italian wine list with the best wines from every region of Italy more than 100.
