Boboo (1 comments)

This micro pocket bar is deadly snug. Faithful clients even bring their own cups to drink from. Located on squeezing narrow Laipu street, Boboo holds 1-2 day "flash exhibitions” with rapid sales, so you can get works from local artists (usually paintings or photographs) for a penny indeed. The bar owners will make you a cup of coffee and funny cocktail, such as “girl vodka”.

Galerija Istaba (art shop + cafe) (3 comments)

TThis Bohemian maisonette consists of the Latvian artists’ shop/gallery, selling cute ‘impracticals’ and jewellery, also holding monthly exhibitions. A bar/restaurant upstairs, dining spaces are decorated as separate rooms. Famous Latvian TV star chef Martiñš Sirmais, known for his gastronomical patriotism, can only prepare two different dishes because of the small, call it ‘trivial’, Istaba kitchen. So just rely on Martiñš and choose among set meat or fish dishes + dessert.

Calm and easy spacious cafe/library/shop which can definitely slow you down from the city rush. Offers one of the finest views of the charmingly lazy Art Nouveau district. Recline on the soft pillows with a cup of coffee and a book accompanied by soothing lounge music. Offers also fresh snacks and tempting cakes. Don’t leave without buying hand-made accessories such as photo albums or leather journals.

Tea Room Kama (2 comments)

As philosophers say, we drink tea to forget the bustle of the world. The Kama staff knows exactly what this means. A calming and meditative atmosphere of Morocco inspired shabby-chic DIY interior, handpicked down tempo music, attentive, very friendly and personal service, and a huge selection of Chinese, Japanese, Argentinan, local herbal etc. teas to be prepared and served according to traditions. Also oriental sweets and snacks. Concept events occasionally.
