The kind-hearted puppet maker has designed many beloved dolls, including the wooden boy Pinocchio. But, one day, the evil Karabass-Barabass steals the puppet maker's dolls and begins to use them for selfish ends. What will happen to Pinocchio, Malvini, and Pierrot? What will help them - self-determination, ingenuity, or friendship? Maybe their friends Gilda and Lucia? Or perhaps the Fox and the Tomcat? Their fate is only known by the opera's authors, composer Jānis Lūsēns and poet Māra Zālīte, who also produced the popular children's opera Birds' Opera, an unrivalled hit at the Latvian National Opera.
