Four Latvian Ghost Stories

“Four Latvian Ghost Stories” is a concert performance produced by Kaspars Putniņš, Jēkabs Nīmanis and Reinis Suhanovs. The performance relates to the Latvian spirit of Halloween or All Hallows Eve. During the time of the spirits, when days grow short, mornings are mystically foggy, and evenings are dark, the Latvian Radio Choir seeks to break down traditional boundaries. The programme is a response to modern human fears, attractively examining causes and effects. Horror as a psychologically therapeutic material is present in any culture, helping us to learn about the nature of our own fears. In Latvian culture, horror stories are usually ironic, grotesque and full of humour.

“On a dark, dark night, in a dark, dark city, in a dark, dark street, in a dark, dark house…” For three evenings sounds, lights, theatrical performances and multimedia effects will interact to create an atmosphere that is most appropriate for dark comedy.
