National Currency
The national currency is the Latvian Lat (Ls). 1Ls equals 100
santīmi. There are banknotes of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 500Ls
denominations, coins of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 santimi and of 1 and 2Ls.
Travellers cheques and Eurocheques can be exchanged in banks. You
can convert your currency either in banks, or numerous exchange
points. Note: Torn banknotes, banknotes with ink marks or old
banknotes (for example, 100US$ bills issued before 1990) are only
accepted at a considerable discounted price or not at all. (1 USD =
